In 2008-2009, the IP is hosted and organised by the Palacký University in Olomouc (Czech Republic) from 21 June till 2 July 2009. The main topic is:
"Unity and Variety in the Perception of European Cultures".
This topic is articulated in four sub-themes of study:
- Inner frontiers of Europe: geographical differences (East and West, North and South, regions of Europe)
- Minority cultures and their treatment by and of the majority (mainstream and underground, orthodoxy and heresy, conformism and dissent)
- Europe and the wider world (understanding and interpreting European cultures from the outside)
- Uses and abuses of cultures: past and present
