Consortium

The Euroculture programme consist of a consortium of eight European universities and four non-European universities. The consortium coordinating university is the University of Groningen.

The Euroculture student makes use of the consortium in the following way:

  • the Euroculture student starts at one European partner university (home university)
  • moves to another partner university (host university) in the second semester
  • participates in the Intensive Programme at one of the European partner universities
  • during the third semester, the student’s mobility depends on the track chosen, professional (placement) or research, the latter can be taken at either an European partner university or, in case of a European student, a non-European partner university
  • the Euroculture student returns in the fourth semester to either his/her home or host university

The mandatory mobility is a crucial element in the Euroculture programme. It allows not only for transnational cross-over comparisons of relevant concepts and their understanding in different regions in the world, but also acquaint the Euroculture student with different cultural settings. These settings are of key importance to develop a good understanding of current debates on European integration.

'It was a great chance for me to study outside of Europe in Japan. In the end that helped me a lot to be successful in my studies. To be able to say that I even studied outside of Europe was also very beneficial in applying for a multinational company.'
