In the first semester of the Euroculture programme, Euroculture students acquire advanced knowledge and research skills related to its central topic. This topic, namely European integration issues, has various dimensions, such as multiculturalism, current political governance, European identity and evolving socio-political processes. These dimensions are studied by means of a set of Core Concepts. These concepts are: communication, mobility, cooperation and active citizenship.
The Core Concepts approach entails a multi-disciplinary set-up and leads to a multi- and interdisciplinary approach that integrates subject-related knowledge and skills regarding historical perspectives, cultural issues, social relations, political and legal issues, and religious traditions within a European context.
The Core Concepts component involves lectures, seminars and assignments. Students’ comprehension of these core concepts are assessed by various methods, such as written and/or oral exams, the preparation of one or more papers and/or individual and group presentations.
