Admission requirements

Euroculture candidates will be selected according to common selection criteria. The following points will be taken into consideration:

  • Candidates must have completed a good level first cycle degree (academic BA degree) in a discipline of relevance to Euroculture.
    For example a degree in the Arts, Humanities or Social Sciences, such as: European studies, History, Theology, Linguistics, Literature, Philosophy, International Relations, Political Sciences, Law, Cultural studies, Anthropology, Psychology, or Sociology.
  • Academic excellence: mark and quality of first degree
    1. The academic quality of the awarding institution of university degree
    2. The academic record of applicant’s degree (grades, time frame)
  • Expected academic potential, based on time spent to receive first degree and the way of conducting studies.
    If studies were not carried out in a focussed manner within a reasonable time frame, the applicant will have to show additional and relevant extra-curricular activities.
  • Motivation to study the Euroculture programme (including the applicant's expectations)

  • Language abilities
  1. English, as evident in supplied test score. The minimum required level should be TOEFL score of 580 points old style, 92 points new style, a score 6.5 of IELTS, or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) C1.
  2. Other languages besides English (of which proof should be given by tests/diploma, study or work experience)
  • Work experience in related fields (the type of work, the duration of the work, the reasons for finishing employment)
  • Having worked or studied abroad (outside the applicant's home country and in a different language and cultural environment)
  • Personal competences (abilities/qualities) relevant for successful participation in the Euroculture programme, such as the abilities to work and learn in an interdisciplinary environment, to carry a heavy workload and to participate in group work.

Furthermore, each partner university may ask for supplementary requirements.

The online application tool for the 2012-2014 intake is open now. Fill out the online application form NOW via this website and upload the requested documents. First deadline (also for EM scholarships): 10 December 2011. Next deadlines: 1 March, 1 May and 1 July. An early bird catches the worm! Approx. one month after the deadline you will receive a notification from the university of your first choice.
